Hi Everyone,

I will be exhibiting at Emerald City Comic Con, my table is L-16.  I am releasing a few brand new art prints, including the Sea Monster piece above.   Here is the link to the map of the convention hall.  If you are attending the event, please come and visit my table.

Cheers,

Alina

These are very quick sketches, while waiting in line at the Neue Galerie in New York.

Just a kind reminder, my old Ice-Cream Monster Facebook page will be removed forever tomorrow.  The new Facebook page to replace it is:

Before I get into the brushes experiment story, just want to kindly reminded everyone that my Ice-Cream Monster Facebook account will be deleted in three days.  A new Facebook account have already been set up to replace it!  I am hoping this would  be a better more well organized FB account for me to share my artwork with everyone.

Now back to the brushes experiment.  Top is painted using the piston water brush.  Bottom is using a regular watercolor paint brush.

Sunday outing at the Golden Gate Park.  I am trying a new piston water brush, I purchase from Blue Heron Arts.  Like the Japanese water brush, this brush hold water in the body.  With the Japanese water brush, you squeeze the water out whenever you need water.  With a piston, water flows at a consistent level, which mean the brush is always has the right amount of moisture.

Students and readers often ask me, what's the main different between developing a book, a app or an animation show?  The truth is ... the thought process is really not that much different!!

Below are the early development sketches of our little Junganew hero - Theo!!  When we first started, we brainstorm a lot of different variation of design, before we settle down into the final design.

This is how Theo eventually look like in the production version!

We try different eyes size ...
