Sketching on a light day ...

Work is a bit light yesterday, so been taking longer lunch and doodling ... trying different painting approach at the desk. The experiments doesn't turn out the way I expected ... actually I am not too excited with the out come of most of these sketches. But it's still fun, it's cool to figure out what's not working, as well as what's work.

I make another painting of my co-worker ... too bad the lighting indoor never change ... otherwise I can make a series of light and color study ...

"The power of imagination makes us infinite" John Muir

More sketches from the winter wonderland of Yosemite. Bottom left is a sketch I did at the John Muir performance.

John Muir (21 April 1838 - 24 December 1914) was an American environmentalist, naturalist, traveler, writer, and scientist. He is, however, probably best remembered as one of the greatest champions of the Yosemite area's natural wonders. He thought that nature was a primary source revealing the character of God.

"A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease." ~John Muir~

Happy 2009 everyone!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone!! Just get back from Yosemite few hours before 2009!! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. Top are sketches of Half Dome and scenery from Yosemite. Below is my VERY FIRST SNOWMAN!!

We find a beautiful meadow near the Ahwahnee hotel to make our snowman. I named the snowman "Cheese" ... cause it has a happy face!

We dress up Cheese to take couple of photos with him ...

This is where Cheese lives!! Isn't the landscape amazing?! Many people make snowmen there, the middle snowman in the photo is CHEESE!! We visit Cheese the following day. He is still happily smiling ... from the foot prints and hand prints around him ... seems like people have been taking photos and play with him!! HE! HE!!
