Zebra roared like a lion?!

I hear zebras making sound for the first time. It's funny, I have been visiting the zoo for years, never hear the zebras make any noise before. Anyhow, they didn't sound like a horse or what you expect a "horse" looking animal would sound like. They sound like a LION!! So weird. I was drawing with my head down, then I hear this "lion" roars!! I pop up, thought "OOH BOY!!" A lion in a zebra cage?!" I turn around and saw this angry zebra "roaring" at the noisy audiences!! It's COOL, but have to say its mighty "ROAR" freak me out for a second!!

Well, it's hard to imagine that those peaceful looking Zebra you drew could roar like a lion:)

Haha! I worked at a zoo for 4 summers and never heard what noise they made. It is nice to finally know! Very nice drawings, I really liked all your pelican studies as well:)

A really surprising animal sound is the cheetah, they sound like chirping birds. But zebras aren't very nice animals. Unlike horses, zebras will ignore or even hurt orphaned baby zebras. So it doesn't surprise me that they roar.

Lovely animal zebras! I like them a lot. They are like horses but smaller, chubbier, and wearing always that convict-inspired stripes.
They are also the favourite meal of lyons. I kind of think of them in a more fraternal way!

THank you everyone for your kind words and visit.

Food and Drugs,
"Favourite meal of Lyons"? Do you mean they eat zebra there? Never think of eating them ... what do zebra taste like? ^____^
