I take Nathan Fowkes's Composition workshop at LAAFA today. Always love Nathan's watercolor painting style and want to learn from him ... he handles watercolor like oil and have an different texture and richness then the traditional watercolor style. Try his approach today in class ... still not quite use to this new technique ... need to practice more. My color get kind of dark and muddy, I run a test in Photoshop (right set) ... that's the kind of color I want ... anyhow ... it's late. Will write more about next time.

Hi Alina, I really like your work and was hoping that this might interest you.
I am attempting to amass a large collection of portraits of Frankenstein's Monster in as many different styles and in as many different media as possible as an ongoing art project. The only stipulation is that the size is 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches (standard artist trading card size) and that each card has name, date, title and anything else you care to add on the back.
I welcome cards from both amateur and professional artists.
I will be leaving blank cards with instructions and mailing address in galleries, colleges, art shops, on buses, handing them out in the street and wherever else I can think of.
If you think you can spare the time to produce a little something, please send a portrait to:
A Patchwork Of Flesh
45 Silversea Drive
Westcliff on Sea
Essex
SS0 9XD
United Kingdom
Each card I receive will be uploaded at http://apatchworkofflesh.blogspot.com/ to produce an on-line gallery, I then hope to put on an exhibition of these cards in a gallery.
Beautiful composition and colour study class.
Cool characters too!
Thank you everyone!!
Very nice,
Lucky you meeting Nathan Fowhes!
Nice stuff as always Alina. You it's funny I was reading your first little cartoon regarding doodling in class and I had just heard about a study done on this when listening to NPR. Doodling is actually your mind's way of trying to refocus. It's like you sitting at your computer and moving the mouse slightly to keep it from going in sleep mode. A lot of famous people doodle while in meetings and such. From what I gathered they said it actually makes your mind a little sharper. I believe the study threw down names like Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Tony Blair, etc, etc. So I wouldn't worry about it too much. Keep up the good work.
Interesting approche !
Awesome work Alina! That little blurb on your sketch page about doodling in class is great! My dad used to get mad when I brought home my graded schoolwork- He'd look at the grade and smile but then glance at the borders of the worksheet covered in lead, and ask me why I kept making a mess. He's very organizational. Now if he sees me not sketching he asks if something is the matter :)
Great work as always! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you everyone ^_^
Cmj,
Thank you. I hear about people telling me that doodling in class helps to focus, but never know about the "scientific" aspect of it. Though it's just an excuse invented by other over imaginative students like myself. LOL Good to know, it's not a bad thing!!
Tyler,
Thank you. Love your doodle in class story.
I really love the top two sketchbook studies, these are GREAT!
