Bad work day comic & paintings

Draw these "sad" Minty comic in respond to a crappy day at work ... one of those days, too much work too little time ... skip lunch, no break and stay very late at work. Feel really grumpy that day ...

Bottom set are more paintings from Nathan Fowkes' painting workshop at LAAFA.

Nice comics, so we benefit from your 'bad' work day at least!

Poor Minty! The bright side is that a crappy day at work resulted in great sketches! ;-)
Love her exhausted eyes in the second sketch!

Lovely sketches Alina!

Sorry that it's so stressful lately! I was considering wearing a wristband too since I was using the mouse like crazy. One thing that really saved my hand from clicking all day was actually using a tablet!

I use my Intuos all the time in Maya! At first it was an awkward transition but after I got use to it.. I love it! I can't go back to using a mouse.. It really helped me reduce my stress on my index finger from clicking all the time. :D

One: I feel like that comic.

two: I like those paintings from the workshop.

three: thanks for stopping by my blog.

I sympathize with the work. I'm can't believe you use a mouse! You definitely need to invest in something less painful, like an intuos or cintiq.

But at least its FRIDAY!! Yay Friday!!!

Wow, that really does sound like a terrible work day. :( I love the way you've portrayed it, though. And I like the dark moodiness of your painting, too!

Solution to hand problem, called carpal tunnel syndrome. Caused by gripping a mouse or pen, etc. all day long solution to stretch your salmon fingers in opposite directions to stretch out carpal tunnel area will bring relief and renewed freedom hands will send drawing later. Exercise has solved hand issues for many artists including myself. Hope this brings relief and new freedom.thaddh@hotmail.com

Just looked at drawing of hand and read comment about wristband. Not helping. The reason the wristband is not helping. Is that it restricts the motion and does not stretch out a carpal tunnel area. By stretching your thumb and fingers out in the office of motion that can grouping does all day long, will free up a carpal tunnel area and take pressure off the nerves. Must send drawings, that explains how this works. More later

I used to wear my hands out too. Then I discovered something...masking tape! I got relief by taping the pencil, brush, Micron pen, or Wacom pen to my finger. I cut off a five-inch strip of tape, then tape the pen to my index finger. Make sure that you tape it to your finger in the natural position that you draw. Just holding the pen for hours causes stress on hour hand muscles. This technique relieves that strain. I haven't had carpel tunnel problems since. Hope that helps.

Wow, must edit!!!!have been using voice recognition software, instead of typing and have not been looking back to make sure, that the software is printing out what I am trying to say and communicate appears onscreen. In the above two comments I see the wrong words appeared ,making for poor communication. In the first comment. Not sure how " Salmon" got in there relating to fingers, and in the second comment. The word "office" does not belong and "grouping". What was meant to be communicated is that one needs to stretch, stretch your fingers and thumb in the opposite direct of the motion , that is all day long, brought about by grip and closing your fingers and hand down in a closed motion. You want to stretch your fingers and thumb out in the opposite direction of the gripping motion of controlling the pen or mouse . Well so much for voice recognition and lack of editing.

Ack!!! How do you NOT have a Wacom tablet???

Now I want a computer monitor fort, complete with rabid gaurdmice, as you have illustrated above. Hahaha.

Thank you all for your kind comments and tips to solve wrist problem. I never get use to using Maya with Wacom :P

I love the sketches! I can relate!

But please get rid of the wrist brace! Read the book by Pete Egoscue called "Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain" and don't listen to doctors! I did the exercises in this book for just 2 weeks before my carpal tunnel started to disappear! And I had 3 totally numb fingers for over 2 months!

Oh yes... I've had quite a few days like that lately!
Perfect depiction!
