The lovely Huntington Garden

I went to Huntington Library to check out their Chinese New Year Celebration and the recently opened Chinese Garden. They have lion dances, arts and craft and other performances ... it's very festive and fun.

Oooh ... and the Magnolia trees are blooming, it's STUNNING!! I recently found out that what we called Magnolia tree is called "Mulan" in Chinese. YUP!! You guess right, the same "Mulan" as the Disney movie ... and that tree in the movie is a "Mulan" (AKA "Magnolia" tree) Anyhow ... there are many seasonal trees like the peach trees, plum trees etc.. are all pink and white and lovely ... so I take tons of pictures of the beautiful scenes ... and the Chinese Garden is beautiful.

It has a poetic tranquil feel too it. I read the concept story, the design is based on the landscape of my favorite Chinese Utopia mythology - The Peach Tree Garden ... anyhow ... long stories short ... I have a great time, paintings and sketching and taking ton of photos ...

And here is where the sad story begins .. *Snif Snif* When I get home, I am all excited trying to download all the lovely pictures in my computer ... BUT .... BUT *Snif Snif* the stupid camera auto ERASE ALL THE PICTURES!! It keeps photos from my last trip, which are supposed to be ERASED!! *Wailling*

I need the photos from the Chinese Garden as image reference of a work related project I am working on ... as for all the lovely flower trees pictures ... I will have to wait till next year to recapture them again!! Those flowers doesn't last very long ... and I am so confident that I have photos of them ... I didn't even bother to sketch them .... *Snif Snif* I think I am going to try to go back to do some sketching of the Magnolia tree ... from memory, while I still remember what they look like. *Snif Snif*

In Chinese Mythology, a person can only enter the Utopia once by ... magic. Very much like Narnia, you can't take anything out of the Utopia, and no one able to find their way back in to the world, once you leave ... so beside poets and paintings, no there is no solid proof of the whereabout of the place or whether it really exists. This whole lost of photos disaster ... make me feel like that ... only brings home drawings and dreams ... *sigh*

Although these drawings aren't related to "FLAWED" ... but I am submitting this entry to IF ... somehow the whole camera incident, make these paintings fit the theme ...

Alina, Happy Chinese New Year! Open the doors to the heart to a Buffalo year.

"La flor del durazno es efímera, su belleza es eterna en tu mirada."

And don't worry! la camara digital no sacará las fotos que sacarías con tu camara mental ^^

thanks for your beautiful creativity!

Your watercolors and sketches are probably more beautiful than the pictures. Still, I'm so sorry you lost them. That really bites. :(

What Wonderful paintings you do!

There still may be hope for your pictures! Maybe.

If nothing has been written to the card since "the incident" there is a good chance the files can be undeleted to another drive.

Immediately set the lock tab on the memory card. Then put the card into a card reader and try a file undelete program, like Data Rescue II (by Prosoft Engineering.)

Good luck!!!

I love to see how you make the colors dance across the paper. They look so happy just playing with each other. So friendly in harmony. I hope you get as much enjoyment building as we do seeing the results.

Hi Alina, your watercolors are beautiful as ever. You've gone a lot further in terms of color use. Beautiful work!

As for your camera, before you do anything, like take more photos etc on that card, try a recovery program. They really work! I recovered photos that way before.

http://www.file-recovery.net/

Do not save more files on there or do anything else to that memory card for best results.

Oh poor girl!! I hope you can recover the photos by doing what the previous poster suggested!

The 2 page spread is delicious...so incredibly delightful!

Sorry to hear about your camera incident. My wife took pictures at one of our daughter's events, and her camera did the same thing. She started sobbing too.

I think these images have a magical quality that will transcend the images your camera lost, and will help to glorify them in your mind.

Such a coincidence! I was there too! Maybe I have some pictures you can use. Lots of cactus pictures but several of the Chinese garden. I need to upload them to the computer.
