Many people ask me about what kind of drawing tools I use for everyday sketching. So here I put my little watercolor set and pen in the picture. Should have taken the picture before I wash the palette ... it would be more interesting ... :P
Err ... HE ! HE!! This is not up-side down ...

Dear Alina,
I found your comment at a friend's blog, Enrique Fernandez (we went to Fine Arts in Barcelona together) and that's how I end up here!!
Don't know if you remember me... Aitor from Spain, UCLA... :) I'm working as a 3D artist in Tokyo right now. Just wanted to drop a line and wish you good luck. Great blog by the way!!
Alina, I love your style--it so quick and fun.
Aitor!! OH my god!! YOu are in Japan?! WOW!!
This is great, how are you?! Do you have an e-mail address? We should catch up with the latest!!
And you are using Will Lin's drawing as your icon!! For a moment, I though it's Will!! What's a small world, we all go to school together and now separate at different part of the planet, and meet up on-line blogging!! Amazing!!
Keep in touch, please e-mail, :)
Alina

I like the picture with all of the hidden images, great colors and "free" pen movements. :)
Alina, this is wonderful.
I see you are using water brush. I love them for doing brush lettering.
Nice watercolor Alina! I have sort of the same set up. I like the brush you use. How do you carry your water? I tried putting mine in a camera film container and it works but leaks a little now and then. Is there also a bag you carry them in?
fun! that little paint set really gets a workout!

Very nice work, I love the colors. I also checked out the rest of your blog. I really like the Sci-Fi doodles you did also!

I've never seen a waterbrush like that.
Nice composition, i like your drawing style..
A great concept, Alina and a beautiful execution. Your work is wonderful, I read all the way down and I love that you are also a Mac user!
Thank you everyone for your compliments.
Shawn,
Thank you.
The brush is a water brush. There is water in the brush, and it's very easy to refill it. :) Those come in very handy, I learn about those brush from Vilppu.
Here is a better picture of the brush:

Wow!! That's awesome! How does it work? Do you squeeze for more water or pour it out?
Shawn,
Yea, and you just refill it by squeezing it under running water or water bottle too. V handy :)
What!!? What a great invention!! I'll have to get one! Thanks Alina!

Adorable!!
Hi Alina, always such a pleasure to look at your work. And you are as friendly as your illustration style. :) Thanks for sharing with me your inspiration.
Hopefully we can find those brushes you mentioned in Singapore.
Wonderful! Seeing the full context like this is an added bonus, and the picture captures the freedom of imagination perfectly! The character's expression, the line textures and the distribution of colour are all just right.
Woo!
Alina, may I know if you use pencils for those lines?
Hey Alina,
beautiful stuff! Keep up the inspiring work.
Thanks everyone for your compliments.
HA ! HA !! I am typing this e-mail in an Apple Store at SF. Computer testing!! LOL For Fun.
Chuang,
I only use pencil to block out the composition briefly, cause this one I sort of did in a rush, try not to make mistake with inklines. But most of the details and overall lines are inked directly. I actually watercolor block it after pencil blocking ... sort of a reverse process from my usual steps. Usually I ink first, no pencil, and then watercolor. :)
Wow, very refreshing artwork! I love it!
I have the same watercolours and brush, but what do you use for ink? (I cant tell from the pic)
Did you try the fabriano classic artist journal? Thats my favourite so far, the paper is very thin but you can use water without worrying.
Lu,
Thanks for your compliment!!
I never try the fabriano classic artist journal.
I should try that. :)
Alina
